Mogadishu — The governor of the Banadir region and mayor of Mogadishu, Hassan Mohamed Hussein Muungaab, visited Somali national army units and allied local fighters stationed at Qorilow camp in the Middle Shabelle region, urging them to intensify operations against militant groups.

Muungaab, accompanied by federal lawmaker Osman Mohamed Mahmoud Haadoole and senior officers from the Somali National Army, toured the military base to assess the working conditions of troops and boost morale among soldiers deployed on the front lines.

The visit forms part of efforts by the Banadir regional administration to support national forces and local community fighters known as Macawisley, who are engaged in ongoing operations against extremist groups in central Somalia.

Addressing the troops, Muungaab urged them to continue their security operations, noting that the national army and Macawisley fighters play a crucial role in safeguarding the capital, Mogadishu, and the country as a whole.

He praised the soldiers for their bravery and sacrifice, saying they risk their lives to protect Somali civilians and their property.

The mayor also pledged that the Banadir administration would continue strengthening its support for forces fighting on the front lines in order to help restore stability and security across Somalia.
