MOGADISHU, Somalia — Somalia’s House of the People Standing Committee met at the Villa Hargeisa parliamentary complex in Mogadishu to review legislative work and set the agenda for the coming week.
The meeting was chaired by House Speaker Abdirahman Mohamed Nur Jama and attended by Second Deputy Speaker Abdullahi Omar Abshir. Committee chairpersons briefed members on draft laws under consideration and the stages they had reached.
Members discussed ways to accelerate legislative work and address key issues before parliament during its eighth session. They subsequently reviewed and unanimously approved the agenda for the House’s plenary sessions scheduled for next week.
Speaker Jama thanked the committee members for their role in preparing parliamentary agendas and advancing key legislative priorities during the current session.
He also urged parliamentary committees to continue carrying out their responsibilities, stressing the importance of ensuring that legislation and parliamentary oversight are conducted effectively and in line with the constitutional mandate of the House.
