MOGADISHU, Somalia [SMN] – The Danab commandos of the SNA carried out a planned operation last night that killed 17 members of Al-Shabaab in Lower Jubba region.
A statement issued by the government said that the members killed in the raid were recently trained in Anoole area of Bu’ale district.
“A number of them were trained for explosives and they were targeted in the Danab operation and were killed,” said the statement issued by the Somali government.
Officials from the army who spoke to the state media also said that the 17 members who were killed in the operation last night are mostly foreigners.
The forces have destroyed a base where the group was gathering in the Weel Maarow area of the Lower Jubba region to plan attacks in the Jubaland state of Somalia.
