MOGADISHU, Somalia [SMN] – A witness says an explosion occurred in the Wadajir district of Mogadishu early on Monday Tuesday morning.

The explosion from a landmine was targeted at a vehicle carrying soldiers of the government army that was passing through the Buulo Hubey neighborhood in the Wadajir district.

It has been confirmed that one soldier was injured in the blast, and the bombed vehicle was also heavily damaged.

There is no news from government security officials regarding the explosion this morning in the Buulo Hubey neighborhood of Wadajir district in Mogadishu.

In the capital of Somalia, there has been an increase in acts of insecurity in recent days, while it is worth noting that security has been good for the past few months.

Last week, an Al-Shabaab suicide bomber killed between 20 and 30 soldiers and injured nearly 60 more in an attack on a military academy in Mogadishu named Jaalle Siyaad.

Many of the soldiers belong to the 14th October Brigade, created in commemoration for the victims of the single deadliest terrorist attack in Africa at Mogadishu’s Zobe junction, which killed nearly 600 people on October 14, 2017.
