MOGADISHU, Somalia — Defense Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur addressed the Somali National Army (SNA) troops at the General Gordan military camp on Thursday, emphasizing the importance of their role in defending Somalia against threats.

During his speech, Minister Nur praised the soldiers for their dedication and urged them to remain vigilant and committed to their duties. “Our nation’s security depends on your bravery and resolve,” he stated, rallying the troops to continue their efforts in maintaining peace and stability.

The Defense Minister also took the opportunity to express his gratitude towards the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for their ongoing support and training initiatives. “The UAE’s assistance has been crucial in enhancing our defense capabilities,” Nur said, highlighting the training programs and military cooperation that have bolstered the SNA’s effectiveness.

This acknowledgment comes at a time when Somalia faces various security challenges, including threats from al-Shabab militants. The UAE’s involvement has been seen as a significant boost to Somalia’s military training and infrastructure, aimed at combating terrorism and fostering national security.

The rally at General Gordan camp not only served as a morale booster for the troops but also underscored the international partnerships vital for Somalia’s defense strategy. Minister Nur’s comments reflect a broader appreciation for the collaborative efforts in strengthening Somalia’s military might amidst ongoing regional instability.
