Diplomatic Overhaul Begins: Ministry of Foreign Affairs Initiates Reform with New Committees

MOGADISHU, Somalia  – In a historic move towards modernizing the diplomatic framework, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, under the stewardship of Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi Ahmed, has initiated a significant overhaul.
Thursday marked the inaugural meeting of two specially appointed committees, tasked with the ambitious goal of reforming both the ministry’s headquarters and its foreign missions.

The meeting, chaired by the Permanent Secretary Hamsa Adan Haadow, was a hive of activity and high expectations. Haadow, with a tone that could only be described as both inspirational and commanding, urged the committee members to “excel in the various duties assigned to them,” setting the stage for what promises to be a transformative journey for the ministry.

The assembly didn’t just discuss; it acted. In a swift and unanimous decision, Avv. Hirsi Haji Culusow was elected as the Chairman of the Board, with Mr. Mustafa Adam Dagal stepping up as the Deputy Chairman.

The air was thick with the scent of change as the committees moved to elect coordinators and their deputies for six sub-committees, each with a mandate to delve into specific areas of reform.

These sub-committees are expected to propose extensive changes across the board, from the work processes and personnel management to the very laws and initiatives that govern the ministry’s operations.

The goal? To elevate the Ministry to a standard that not only matches but surpasses its counterparts globally.

The reforms, once finalized, will be presented to Minister Ahmed for his endorsement before they hit the Cabinet’s table for approval and subsequent implementation.

This move signifies not just a bureaucratic shuffle but a comprehensive rethinking of how the ministry operates, aiming to set a new benchmark in international diplomacy.
