DHUSAMAREB (SMN) – Galmudug president Ahmed Abdi Kariye (Qoor Qoor) spoke for the first time about the ongoing fighting in Guriel town of Galgadud region, between government forces and Ahlu Sunna.
He first offered his condolences to the victims of the fighting, wished the injured a speedy recovery, and expressed his sorrow over the displacement of the population from the city.
The president said that Galmudug’s position has always been to resolve issues through dialogue but Ahlu Sunna has ignored it and stayed in the town by power.
The fighting entered its fourth day, with a high number of casualties on both sides.
Guriel, a commercial town in central Somalia, has been the scene of intense fighting in recent months, with Ahlu Sunna forces taking control of the town.
