Hargeisa (SMN) – Reports from the Somaliland capital say that gunfire is heard inside the main jail in Hargeisa as prisoners attempted to escape.
No casualties have been reported so far, but police and military forces have been deployed.
The police arrested journalists Mohamed Ilig, Hassan Galeydh and Ahmed Mohamud Yusuf who went to the scene to cover the incident.
The situation is tense now, with heavy gunfire still being heard in Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland.
