AFGOYE, Somalia – Reports from the southern agriculture city of Afgoye indicate that unknown gunmen killed a civilian early on Tuesday morning amid increased security measures in place.
The murder of victim identified as Abas Osman Abshirow has been gunned down in the Fayuma neighborhood. Abshirow was a cab driver and the motive behind his assassination remains unclear.
Police sealed off the scene following the killing and no arrest was made as the perpetrators fled.
An investigation was launched to find the killers, according to the police. Abshirow’s death sent a shocking wave through the residents. Afgoye lies approximately 30 Kilometers west of Mogadishu.
The town has witnessed acts of insecurity, including planned killings and attacks by Al-Shabaab fighters, which pose a threat to the security, according to the local authorities.
