DHUSAMAREB, Somalia – The President of the Jubaland Ahmed Madobe criticized the manner in which the operations are being carried out and described them as ‘unfruitful’.
Speaking at an event to mark the end of two-day talks in Dhusamareb city, Madobe has called for a united and wide front against the Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab militant group.
The President of Jubaland said that his State is ready to fully participate in the war, but there is a need for a solution in the recovered areas, where Al-Shabaab is hitting back.
“It seems to me that if we stand together, we can liberate Somalia from Al-Shabaab. The war in Galmudug was supposed to end in 15 days and it failed,” added Madobe.
Jubaland several times said it has prepared forces to participate in the war against Al-Shabaab, in a bid to recapture the remaining areas, including the Middle Juba region.
In addition, Jubaland indicated that its main objective is to capture that region that has been under the militants for over 12 years. Somalia is now at the final stage of the war.
On Friday, Somalia’s army, alongside security forces from the country’s central Galmudug region, entered the historic district of Elbur, about 400 kilometers (249 miles) north of the capital Mogadishu, shortly after al-Shabab militants hastily fled the district.
