MANDERA, Kenya – In a recent development, Al-Shabaab militants launched an attack on the Special Operations Group police officers stationed in Guba, located in the northeastern region of Kenya, as reported by security sources.
Details of the incident are currently under investigation, and the extent of casualties remains undisclosed.
Despite the assault, the alert security teams effectively countered the militants, resulting in significant losses for the attackers.
Over the past several months, the Special Operations Group, in collaboration with the Kenya Defence Forces, has been actively engaged in operations along the Kenya-Somalia border.
Their efforts have successfully pushed back Al-Shabaab, leading to the elimination of hundreds of militants.
Given the history of Al-Shabaab targeting security personnel, the Kenyan administration exercises extreme caution when making decisions related to national security.
In the last three weeks alone, there have been 56 enemy maneuvers reported in the region.
