KISMAYO, Somalia — Calm has returned to the southern Somali city of Kismayo after a violent incident at the Agan Hotel earlier today.
The skirmish unfolded when security guards of opposition candidates attempted to gain unauthorized access to the hotel, resulting in a brief shootout with the hotel’s security forces.
According to local reports, one individual was killed and two others sustained injuries during the confrontation. Authorities have since fortified security measures across the city to prevent further incidents.
Simultaneously, the process for the upcoming presidential election continues as candidates are set to receive their certificates of candidacy today, signaling the next phase in the electoral process.
