MOGADISHU, Somalia – A special meeting on Mogadishu security was held at the headquarters of the Benadir regional administration on Saturday after a decline in attacks.
Mogadishu mayor, Somali PM Hamza Abdi Barre, ministers, and lawmakers attended the meeting, which featured the efforts by the security forces to restore peace and stability.
Somali police chief Gen. Sulub Ahmed Firin was also in attendance at the meeting. In his speech, Firin the paramilitary police made the city safe again after decades of insecurity.
He urged the public at large to double their cooperation with the security agencies to further strengthen the peace which is vital for the revival of the capital and boost business.
After improved security, Tens of thousands of football fans flocked to Mogadishu stadium to watch the opening soccer game between Hirshabelle and Galmudug States on Friday.
Speaking at the opening of the tournament, PM Barre highlighted the vital role of football in fostering peace, harmony, and unity among our people.
Meanwhile, the Somali Prime Minister praised the remarkable efforts made by government security agencies that contributed to the significant improvement in the capital’s security.
