HARGEISA, Somalia – Somaliland Police Commander Boss Major General Mohamed Adan Saqadhi has instructed the troops to take appropriate action against the Gaal-Libaah Rebellion after engaging in a fierce battle with the RRU’s specially trained forces.
This came after nine Somaliland police officers were killed in a battle that took place yesterday in the Gaan-Liba mountain which became the deadliest incident for a month.
“From now on, the police force has the authority to take the appropriate action against those in Gacan Libah,” said Somaliland Police Chief Sergeant Mohamed Aden Saqadhi.
The Somaliland Police Command deployed additional troops on Saturday morning to the last areas of the war with dozens of technical vehicles to ensure security, according to the leading officials.
The clashes between the Somaliland Police Force and the recently formed rebel group have escalated in the Gacan-Libaax region, with a recent confrontation near the Dari-maraa village.
Since 2022, several rebellions were declared in Somaliland, all of which were demanding justice and an autonomy, including people in Sool, Sanaag and Cayn regions [SSC].
Some of the Traditional leaders acknowledged the rebel’s concerns and blamed the government for dismissing the opposition’s demand to presidential elections, rather than the political party elections pushed by the outgoing president.
