Doolow, Gedo — Political shifts are anticipated in the coming days in Doolow town, Gedo region, after the elders of the clan held talks with the district commissioner, Mohamed Abdi Lafey.
The meeting resulted in significant agreements, including initiating dialogue between Abdirashid Janan and Mohamed Abdi Lafey. Security responsibilities in Doolow town and its airport will be handed over to forces loyal to Abdirashid Janan.
It was also agreed that Mohamed Abdi Lafey will remain as district chairman, and no political or military retaliation will be tolerated.
Additionally, the military vehicles stationed in the town will be separated: government forces will reclaim their weapons and vehicles, while those belonging to the district chairman will be considered personal or clan property.
Following the meeting, traditional elders, the district chairman, and Abdirashid Janan left Doolow for Beled Hawo to brief Janan on the agreements and work towards stabilizing the situation in Doolow.
Preparations are underway for the arrival of the Regional National Intelligence and Security Agency commander, Abdirashid Janan, expected in Doolow tomorrow.
This development is seen as a significant victory for Somalia’s federal government, dealing a blow to the administration of Ahmed Madobe, which has controlled Doolow district and contested central government authority in recent months.
