Cairo – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, His Excellency Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who is on an official visit to Egypt, held a meeting with the Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Al-Yami.
During the meeting, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud expressed Somalia’s deep appreciation for the Arab Parliament’s support for the country’s sovereignty, unity, and independence. He highlighted the pivotal role the Arab Parliament plays in promoting Somalia’s interests on regional and international platforms.
The President also reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to strengthening its cooperation with the Arab Parliament, exchanging expertise, and aligning decisions on global matters that affect the Arab world.
For his part, Speaker Mohamed Ahmed Al-Yami praised the strong cooperation between Somalia and Arab countries, particularly in support of Arab causes. He also commended President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s strategic vision regarding the upcoming elections, the fight against terrorism, and the liberation of areas still under the control of extremist groups.
The meeting marks another step towards enhancing Somalia’s ties with the Arab world, focusing on mutual support for peace, security, and development in the region.
