Somali envoy hails swearing-in of EALA lawmakers in Tanzania

ARUSHA, Tanzania – Somalia’s ambassador to Tanzania and the East African Community (EAC), Ilyas Ali Hassan, on Monday announced the swearing-in of Somali representatives to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) in the northern Tanzanian city of Arusha.

 

The envoy described the development as a political milestone for Somalia, saying it underscored the country’s growing role and active participation within the regional bloc.

He said Mogadishu remained committed to strengthening regional ties, integration, cooperation, peace and development among member states of the East African Community.

The ambassador also expressed gratitude to Somalia’s national leadership, particularly President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, for what he called sustained efforts to enhance the country’s engagement with the bloc and promote its regional standing.
