WASHINGTON – Somalia’s Minister of Finance, Bihi Imaan Igeh, on Friday chaired the 26th meeting of the Finance Ministers from the Horn of Africa Cooperation Forum, held on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington, DC.
The high-level meeting focused on enhancing regional cooperation among Horn of Africa nations, particularly in developing essential cross-border services and infrastructure along the border and coastal areas.
The ministers also discussed joint investment priorities aimed at accelerating regional economic integration and sustainable development.
In his opening remarks, Minister Bihi emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among Horn of Africa countries to secure targeted investment for shared development goals.
He stressed that increased collaboration is vital for regional stability, economic growth, and improved livelihoods for communities across the region.
Participants also explored ways to strengthen partnerships with international financial institutions, including the IMF and World Bank, to mobilize resources for key regional projects.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to deepening economic ties and fostering inclusive development across the Horn of Africa.
