MOGADISHU, Somalia – The government of Somalia said that the SNA forces with the support of international partners, have carried out planned operations targeting Al-Shabaab bases in Bu’ale, Saakow, and Jilib in the middle Jubba region.

The government said that Al-Shabaab’s weapons stockpile was destroyed in the operations while several training camps were hit. It added that al-Shabaab suffered heavy losses.

The government did not provide further details.

The United States is supporting the Somali government in airstrikes, in order to weaken the ability of al-Shabaab to organize attacks against government forces and regional troops.

A few days ago, the United States carried out an attack in the Shabeelow area in the south of the Mudug region, where al-Shabaab had centers to organize planned attacks.

The government has not yet been able to remove Al-Shabaab from Mudug and Galgaduud.

The army vacated the areas captured from Al-Shabaab such as Galhareeri, Galcad, and Elbur under Galmudug state following a deadly attack on the Osweine base in Galgadud.
