Somali Foreign Minister Meets Türkiye Ambassador to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

MOGADISHU, Somalia — Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, met on Monday with the Ambassador of Türkiye to Somalia, H.E. Alper Aktaş, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between the two nations.

 

The meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mogadishu, focused on enhancing the “brotherly ties” between Somalia and Türkiye, promoting shared political, economic, and development goals, and exploring opportunities for joint initiatives and long-term partnerships.

According to ministry officials, the discussions emphasized collaboration in key sectors including trade, investment, education, and infrastructure development, reflecting both countries’ commitment to deepening strategic ties.

The Somali Foreign Minister reaffirmed Somalia’s appreciation for Türkiye’s continued support in peacebuilding, humanitarian assistance, and institutional capacity-building, while the ambassador highlighted Türkiye’s interest in expanding cooperation to benefit both nations and their citizens.

The meeting is part of ongoing diplomatic engagements aimed at consolidating Somalia’s international partnerships and strengthening regional stability.
