MOGADISHU, Somalia — Somali Foreign Minister and Ambassador Ahmed Moalim Fiqi met with Marina Walter, the Deputy Regional Director of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in Mogadishu on Monday.
During the meeting, Fiqi expressed his gratitude to the UNDP for its significant contributions to Somalia’s development efforts.
“The UNDP has been a crucial partner in our journey towards stability and development,” Fiqi said. “We appreciate the support and look forward to enhancing our cooperation to address the challenges facing our nation.”
The meeting focused on strategies to strengthen ties between the Federal Government of Somalia and the UNDP, aiming to bolster ongoing projects and initiate new programs that cater to the needs of the Somali people.
Marina Walter affirmed the UNDP’s commitment to Somalia, highlighting the importance of sustainable development and peacebuilding initiatives. “We are dedicated to working closely with the government and the people of Somalia to foster resilience and growth,” Walter stated.
The discussions come at a time when Somalia continues to navigate through complex security and economic issues, emphasizing the need for robust international partnerships.
