MOGADISHU, Somalia [SMN] – The prime minister of Somalia Hamza Abdi Barre today opened a training course for 3,000 newly recruited teachers to be deployed across the country in the next school year, which starts in September 2023.
This milestone is marking the first time in more than three decades that such number of teachers were employed in Government-run schools.
Speaking at the opening ceremony at Gen. Kaahiye National Police Academy in Mogadishu, PM Barre urged the teachers to rise to the occasion by exhibiting a great deal of integrity, discipline and astute communication skills in and outside their classes.
He further reminded the teachers that Somalia’s future rests on them as they educate the leaders of tomorrow, at a time when the country needs new generation of skilled workforce more than ever.
