MOGADISHU, Feb 23 — The commander of the Somali National Army’s land forces, Sahal Abdullahi Omar, has congratulated the Somali Custodial Corps on the 56th anniversary of its establishment, praising its central role in the country’s justice system.
In a statement, the general extended his message to all ranks — senior officers, officers, non-commissioned officers and enlisted personnel — speaking on his own behalf and that of the land forces command of the Somali National Army.
“I send my congratulations to all members of the Somali Custodial Corps celebrating the 56th anniversary of their founding. They are the backbone of the justice system and the security of prison facilities,” he said.
Founded on February 22, 1970, the custodial corps plays a key role in guarding detainees, supporting rehabilitation and discipline, and maintaining overall security in detention centres across the country.
The land forces commander commended the corps for its continued dedication and service, wishing its members further progress, unity and success in fulfilling their national duties.
