Somali National Army Captures Oromo Al-Shabaab Militant in Hiran Region

HIRAN, Somalia — The Somali National Army (SNA), in collaboration with local clan militia, has successfully captured a member of the Al-Shabaab from the Oromo ethnic community in Ethiopia.

 

The operation took place in the Berayabaal area under the Buloburde district in the Hiran region, where intense operations to combat Al-Shabaab have been ongoing in recent days.

The captured militant, whose body was marked with a tattoo, will be handed over to the appropriate authorities to face legal proceedings, according to army officials. This capture marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to dismantle the extremist group’s presence in the region.

The Hiran region, located in central Somalia, has been a focal point of heavy military operations aimed at defeating Al-Shabaab.
