Somali Officers Held Accountable for Lido Beach Attack as PM Visits Victims at Hospital

MOGADISHU, Somalia — Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre visited a hospital late last night where victims of the attack on Lido Beach were being treated. The attack, which took place on the popular beach in Mogadishu, left several people dead and many others injured.

 

During his visit, the Prime Minister said that officers who were responsible for the sites attacked have been held accountable, with some being locked up. He emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that those responsible for the attack face justice.

The Prime Minister also expressed his condolences to the relatives and friends of those who died in the attack. He prayed for the mercy of God and the healing of the injured, saying that the Somali people stand united against terrorism.

In his remarks, the Prime Minister called on the Somali people to support the military and security agencies in their efforts to eradicate the Al-Shabaab group, which he described as representing the slaughter of the Somali people. He stressed the importance of unity and cooperation in the fight against terrorism.

The Prime Minister also met with some of the injured during his visit to the hospital. He listened to a report from the hospital management and doctors, and praised the security forces for their role in rescuing and helping the victims.

The attack on Lido Beach is the latest in a series of violent incidents in Somalia, where the government has been battling the Al-Shabaab group for years.

The group, which is affiliated with Al-Qaeda, has been fighting to overthrow the Somali government and impose its strict interpretation of Islamic law.
