HUDUR, Somalia – In a significant humanitarian effort, a delegation from the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), led by Commissioner Mahamuud Moallim, along with Southwest State Minister for Humanitarian Affairs Abdinasir Abdi Arush, and officials from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), World Food Programme (WFP), United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), visited internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Hudur, Bakool region.
During their visit, the delegation inspected IDP camps and provided much-needed relief supplies to over 600 families. Commissioner Moallim also led a special meeting with local officials and humanitarian partners to plan emergency assistance for vulnerable civilians in the Bakool region.
The visit comes at a crucial time as the region continues to face challenges such as drought, conflict, and displacement. The delegation’s efforts to provide immediate relief and plan for long-term assistance are crucial in addressing the humanitarian needs of the affected population.
The Somali government, along with international partners, remains committed to supporting the affected communities and ensuring that they receive the necessary assistance to rebuild their lives.
