MOGADISHU – Somalia’s Speaker of the House of the People, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madoobe), held talks in Mogadishu with the European Union’s Ambassador, Francesca Di Mauro, focusing on strengthening cooperation on legislative and governance reforms.
Ambassador Di Mauro briefed the speaker on ongoing EU programmes in the country and praised Parliament for its work in passing key legislation deemed critical for Somalia’s state-building process.
The two sides discussed accelerating collaboration between the House of the People and the EU Delegation, particularly in the areas of legislative development, the review and completion of the provisional constitution, and expanding EU support for governance and institutional reforms.
Speaker Madoobe thanked the EU for its continued backing, stressing that Parliament remained committed to completing the constitutional process and ensuring that Somalis regain their full right to elect their national leaders.
