Mogadishu, Somalia – The Prime Minister of Somalia Hamza Abdi Barre, who participated in the graduation ceremony of students from UPeace University on Friday, stated that the government will focus on improving education at various levels, and the process of establishing the National Education Commission is underway.
โI am announcing that 60 Somali students will be granted scholarships to pursue PhD studies at the University for Peace (UPEACE). This is a clear step that reflects the governmentโs commitment to building highly educated leaders who will play a significant role in the countryโs future,โ said Prime Minister Hamza.
The Prime Minister emphasized that education and knowledge are fundamental to national development and the strengthening of government institutions. He stated that for this to be realized, it is necessary to increase the number of qualified intellectuals in the country, focusing on empowering educated individuals to lead Somali society.
Mr. Hamza congratulated the graduates for their hard work and dedication to higher education, urging them to use their knowledge to benefit their fellow Somali citizens and contribute to achieving progress, peace, and social stability.
Today marks the global celebration of World Education Day, which serves as a reminder that education is a fundamental human right that everyone in the world should have access to, especially young people, so they can take part in peacebuilding, development, and unity.
