Somali PM Meets Women Leaders, Praises Their Role in National Reconciliation

MOGADISHU, Somalia — The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, held a significant meeting with women leaders of the “Mother Support Your Nation” campaign at his office.

 

The discussions focused on their vital role in reconciliation and increasing public awareness for the upcoming one-person, one-vote election in the Banadir region.

Prime Minister Barre praised Somali women for their contributions to national security, conflict resolution, development, and unity.

He expressed gratitude for their support in liberating the country from what he described as “Kharijities,” acknowledging their encouragement to the armed forces on the frontlines.

“Your contributions to our nation’s resilience and progress are both profound and indispensable,” Barre stated, emphasizing the importance of women in achieving peace, stability, and sustainable development in Somalia.

The meeting underscored the essential role of women in the country’s future, with the government reaffirming its commitment to inclusivity and national progress.
