MOGADISHU, Somalia – Alper Aktaş, the recently appointed Turkish Ambassador to Somalia, was received at the PM’s office by Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.
They talked about how to improve the two countries’ cooperation and brotherhood.
The prime minister congratulated Alper Aktaş and wished him well in his new role. He also expressed his appreciation to the Turkish people and government for their unwavering support of Somalia.
The long-standing friendship between Turkey and Somalia is something that Ambassador Aktaş is committed to promoting, according to a statement issued by the OPM.
Early this month, Turkey signed an offshore oil and natural gas cooperation deal with Somalia on Thursday, the Turkish Energy Ministry said, further strengthening bilateral ties after agreeing a defence deal last month.
The deal was signed in Istanbul by Somalia’s Petroleum and Mineral Resources Abdirisaaq Omar Mohamed Minister and Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar.
