Somali PM urges people in Jubaland state to join war on Al-Shabaab

KISMAYO, Somalia – The Prime Minister of Somalia, Hamsa Abdi Barre urged the people of Jubaland to take up arms in order to liberate the areas controlled by the Al-Shabaab.

 

The Prime Minister, who spoke passionately in Kismayo, called on the people to prepare for the fight against Al-Shabaab, stressing the need to focus on the fight against extremism.

“The people of Jubbaland are required to prepare for the liberation of this country, to take up arms and get rid of them. We want you to prepare for the defense and liberation of your land,” said Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre.

The Prime Minister revealed that the government will send more troops to the areas of the Jubbaland regional government.

This strategic move, the Prime Minister said, was aimed at strengthening the current forces and increasing the security of Jubbaland cities.

Prime Minister Hamse called on the public to support the forces engaged in operations against Al-Shabaab, stressing that it is important to cooperate in order to eradicate them from Jubbaland.

He stated that the Federal Government of Somalia is committed to bringing in military forces to strengthen the existing efforts to fight Al-Shabaab.
