MOGADISHU [SMN] – President Hassan Sheikh appointed Mako Mohamud Muse to serve as his Adviser on Controlling the Flow of Illegal Arms in Somalia.
Villa Somalia said the appointment is part of the national plan to lift the arms embargo on the Horn of Africa nation imposed by the UN security council in 1992 during the civil war.
The embargo was partially lifted in 2013 to help Somalia’s security forces develop and fight the Al-Shabaab militants.
The female advisor will work to ensure that the arms do not fall into the hands of the people outside the government or Al-Shabaab, which is battling in the country.
President Hassan Sheikh urged her to serve the nation efficiently and faithfully.
