BERLIN, Germany — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud landed in Berlin on Tuesday, greeted by German officials ahead of a high-level conference focused on Africa’s trade and investment opportunities.
The visit, initiated by an invitation from German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, aims to deepen the bilateral ties between Somalia and Germany.
“His Excellency President Hassan Sheikh has arrived in Berlin to a warm welcome from the German government,” a statement from Villa Somalia read. “The President will meet with Chancellor Olaf Scholz to discuss strengthening Somalia-Germany relations—revitalizing vocational training, bolstering security, and expanding cooperation.”
President Mohamud’s agenda includes participation in the Germany-Africa Investment Summit, where he intends to highlight Somalia’s potential for growth and development. The conference is expected to attract investors and discuss strategies for economic development across the continent.
