ARUSHA, Tanzania — Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the president of Somalia, received a warm welcome in Arusha on Saturday as he arrived to attend the 25th annual summit of leaders of the East African Community (EAC).
The summit, held in Tanzania, brings together heads of state and senior officials from member countries to discuss regional cooperation and integration.
During the meeting, President Mohamud is expected to deliver a speech focusing on strengthening regional collaboration in key areas including economic development, security, and greater connectivity among the populations of EAC member states.
On the sidelines of the summit, the Somali leader is also scheduled to hold bilateral talks with several regional leaders attending the gathering.
This year’s 25th EAC Heads of State Summit will address a range of major issues, including enhancing cooperation among member states in economic growth, security, trade, and political coordination across the region.
