Somali President Attends Eid Prayer in Mogadishu, Calls for Unity and Peace

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud attended the Eid al-Fitr prayer on Saturday, joining thousands of citizens, government officials, and civil servants at the Isbahaysiga Mosque in Mogadishu.

 

After the prayer, President Mohamud extended his Eid greetings to Muslims worldwide, offering a special message to the Somali people. He underscored the importance of Eid as a time for unity, compassion, and solidarity among Muslims.

“Eid reflects the spirit of togetherness and mutual support,” the President said. “It is a reminder for us to carry forward the values we nurtured during Ramadan, particularly in supporting our defenders, helping the less fortunate, and working toward the collective good of our nation.”

The President also urged Somalis to continue praying for the country’s peace, stability, and prosperity as it strives for a better future.

In a special tribute, President Mohamud recognized the Somali National Armed Forces, praising the dedication and sacrifice of the commanders, officers, and troops stationed on the frontlines.

“Your bravery is integral to securing the future of Somalia,” he said.
