Mogadishu, Oct 31, 2025 — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Friday conferred the National Order of Honor on Djibouti’s President Ismail Omar Guelleh, in recognition of his unwavering support and solidarity with the Somali people and government over the years.
In a ceremony held in Mogadishu, President Mohamud praised Guelleh’s “enduring commitment and brotherly support” to Somalia, describing the medal as a symbol of the deep friendship, cooperation, and mutual respect between the two neighboring nations.
“The people of Somalia will always remember Djibouti’s historic role in the 2000 Arta Peace Conference, which paved the way for the re-establishment of Somalia’s government,” Mohamud said during the event.
He also lauded Djibouti for its continued contribution to regional stability and its steadfast partnership in promoting peace and unity in the Horn of Africa.
