MOGADISHU, Somalia — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud made a compelling appeal to business leaders on Friday to back the newly revealed Mogadishu Development Plan, highlighting its blueprint for an international convention center and expansive recreational areas.
During a Friday night meeting with key business figures, Mohamud pointed out the lucrative investment prospects the plan offers, urging local entrepreneurs to play a pivotal role in national reconstruction.
He gave credit to the business community for its economic contributions while advocating for improved tax adherence, against the backdrop of recent business shutdowns caused by tightened regulations in the capital.
Just days earlier, on Wednesday, Mohamud cut the ribbon on the Mogadishu Gateway Complex, marking a monumental step in the revitalization of Mogadishu.
This development will bring the country’s first five-star hotel and a significant convention center to the city, complemented by a modern hospital, an elite school, and a mix of shopping, residential, and leisure facilities.
