Mogadishu — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has congratulated President-elect Abdulqadir Ahmed Aw-cali and Vice President-elect Abdirashid Yusuf Jibril following their election to lead the Puntland region of northeastern Somalia.
In a statement, President Mohamud praised the maturity displayed by lawmakers, the parliamentary leadership, and the presidential candidates who contested the election, wishing the newly elected leadership success in fulfilling the heavy responsibilities ahead.
“I extend my best wishes to President Abdulqadir Ahmed Aw-cali and Vice President Abdirashid Yusuf Jibril. May they lead with a vision that unites the people of northeastern Somalia, working towards peace, development, and strong governance,” President Mohamud said. “The Federal Government of Somalia is committed to supporting Puntland to jointly achieve the completion of federalism.”
The President emphasized the importance of unity, cooperation, and partnership within the newly elected leadership, urging both the local community and the Puntland government to work together to overcome challenges and ensure sustainable development.
