Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud Departs for Norway on a Three-Day Official Visit

Mogadishu, Somalia – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has left the country on a three-day official visit to Norway. The President is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with the Norwegian Prime Minister to further enhance the Somalia-Norway strategic bilateral relations in various areas of mutual interest.

 

During his visit, President Mohamud will also deliver a keynote address at the annual retreat of the Oslo Forum 2024. The theme of this year’s forum is “Reclaiming Democracy,” emphasizing the role participants play within the global movement for freedom and democracy.

The President’s visit to Norway comes at a crucial time for Somalia, as the country continues to make progress in its efforts to build a more stable and secure nation. The Somali government has been working closely with its international partners to address the challenges facing the country, including the ongoing conflict with Al-Shabaab and the impact of climate change.

President Mohamud’s visit to Norway is expected to further strengthen the relationship between the two countries and pave the way for increased cooperation in various areas, including security, economic development, and humanitarian assistance.
