Somali President Holds Talks with Libyan Leader In Tripoli

Tripoli (SMN) – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met with Libyan leaders, including Mohamed Al-Menfi, Head of the Libyan Presidential Council, and Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibeh, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations in areas such as migration, economy, energy, and diplomacy.

 

The President specifically addressed the plight of Somali migrants in Libya, expressing gratitude to the Libyan government for assisting in the return of Somali nationals who faced challenging conditions in the country. He emphasized Somalia’s commitment to addressing migration issues and ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens.

The talks also focused on mutual interests and the need to enhance economic and political cooperation. Both leaders agreed on the importance of accelerating energy collaboration, particularly through the exchange of knowledge and modern technology in renewable energy and oil exploration.

Following the discussions, President Mohamud and Prime Minister Dbeibeh oversaw the signing of multiple agreements aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries. The signed agreements focus on increasing investment, economic integration, and public services.

This meeting marks a significant milestone in reinforcing ties between Somalia and Libya, with both countries committed to mutual growth and regional stability.
