BEIJING – His Excellency President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud today held bilateral discussions with His Excellency President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
The two leaders agreed to elevate their diplomatic relations to a strategic partnership and strengthen cooperation across all sectors for the benefit of both nations.
President Hassan Sheikh reaffirmed Somalia’s steadfast commitment to the One China policy and conveyed his sincere appreciation for China’s unwavering support of Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
President Xi Jinping emphasized China’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Somalia in key areas, including economic development, trade facilitation, food security, climate resilience, and human capital development.
President Xi also announced a package that includes a 200 million yuan grant to support Somalia’s immediate priorities.
President Hassan Sheikh expressed his profound gratitude to President Xi for China’s generous support and reiterated Somalia’s readiness to enhance cooperation, promoting a mutually beneficial partnership.
Both leaders committed to strengthening collaboration on key national and global issues of mutual interest.
