Somali president receives Saudi delegation in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia [SMN] – The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia sent a high-level delegation to Somali capital, Mogadishu as ties with the Horn of Africa nation warms up.

 

President Hassan Sheikh hosted the Special Envoy of the Royal Court of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.E Ahmed Bin Abdulaziz Kattan, at the State House on Thursday, August 3.

The head of the state and the Saudi team discussed the ongoing fight against terrorism and further strengthened the historic ties of brotherhood between the two countries.

The two nations enjoy cordial relations with Saudi responsible for over 80 percent of Somalia’s livestock exports while employing tons of Somali migrant workers.

Somalia has expressed a desire to improve its diplomatic relationship with Saudi Arabia following a visit by House Speaker Sheikh Aden Madobe to Riyadh in early June 2023.

The Economic relations between Somalia and Saudi Arabia are close, with two major areas of exchange being livestock and labour. Saudi has diplomatic representation in Somalia.
