Somali President Travels to Tanzania for East African Leaders’ Summit

Mogadishu — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud departed for Tanzania on Saturday to attend a summit of leaders from the East African Community.

 

During his visit, Mohamud is expected to hold bilateral meetings with regional leaders attending the gathering, with discussions focusing on strengthening regional cooperation and enhancing Somalia’s diplomatic ties.

Somalia has in recent months intensified its diplomatic engagement with countries across Africa and beyond as part of the government’s efforts to bolster security, promote development and expand its political influence in the region.

The summit brings together heads of state and government from member countries of the East African bloc to discuss regional integration, economic cooperation and security challenges.
