MOGADISHU, Somalia — President Hassan Sheikh delivered a keynote speech at the launch of the New Mogadishu Development Corporation (NMDC) and the New Mogadishu International Airport (NMIA), highlighting their potential to revolutionize the economy.
In his address, Sheikh Mohamud underscored the significant benefits these projects would bring, including enhanced infrastructure, increased trade, and improved regional connectivity.
He portrayed Mogadishu as poised to become a pivotal hub for development in the Horn of Africa.
“These initiatives are not just about building structures; they are about building a future for Somalia,” Sheikh Mohamud stated, emphasizing the economic upliftment expected from the NMDC and NMIA.
The development corporation and the airport are anticipated to attract investment, foster job creation, and stimulate economic growth across various sectors, setting a new trajectory for the nation’s development.
The government started plans to construct a new global standard airport in an area located 37 km away from the capital, Mogadishu, according to the aviation authorities.
