Somali Prime Minister Visits Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeilani Mosque in Baghdad

Baghdad, Iraq – The Prime Minister of Somalia, Hamsa Abdi Barre, on Tuesday visited the historical Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeilani Mosque in Baghdad, in a significant visit aimed at fostering cultural and religious ties.

 

The Prime Minister was warmly welcomed by the administration and scholars of the mosque, who provided him and his delegation with a comprehensive tour of the four sections of the mosque dedicated to the four madhhabs of Hanafia, Shafi’i, Malikiya, and Hambaliya.

During his visit, Prime Minister Barre expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and spoke about the historical significance and importance of the Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeilani Mosque. He highlighted the mosque’s role as a pilgrimage site for Muslims from across the Islamic world, attracting thousands of visitors each year.

The Prime Minister also spoke about Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeilani, a revered Sunni scholar known for his efforts in spreading Islam and guiding people towards the righteous path.

He emphasized the Sheikh’s contributions to Islamic scholarship and his enduring legacy in promoting peace and harmony among Muslims.

The scholars at the Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeilani Mosque expressed their appreciation for the Prime Minister’s visit and offered prayers for peace, prosperity, and development for the Somali people.

They commended the Prime Minister’s efforts to strengthen ties between Somalia and Iraq and to promote mutual understanding and cooperation between the two nations.
