Somalia and China Strengthen Ties as New Ambassador Presents Credentials in Mogadishu

Mogadishu, Somalia – In a ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Mogadishu on Saturday, the Minister, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi Ahmed, welcomed Mr. Wang Yu, the newly appointed Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Somalia, for the presentation of his credentials.

 

During the cordial meeting, Minister Fiqi extended his warm congratulations to Ambassador Wang Yu on his new role. He expressed Somalia’s gratitude for the longstanding support from China, particularly in areas critical to the nation’s development.

The Minister highlighted the importance of enhancing bilateral relations, focusing on economic development, infrastructure projects, and capacity-building initiatives.

He voiced his optimism for an expansion in cooperation, particularly in trade, education, and technology sectors, which are pivotal for Somalia’s growth and stability.

Ambassador Wang Yu reciprocated the sentiments, affirming China’s commitment to fostering a deeper partnership with Somalia. He outlined plans for future collaborations that would benefit both nations, emphasizing mutual respect and shared prosperity.
