MOGADISHU, Somalia — President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of the Federal Republic of Somalia welcomed a delegation from the East African Community (EAC) Parliament, led by Speaker Joseph Ntakirutimana, at Villa Somalia on Thursday.
The visit aimed to foster stronger ties between Somalia and the EAC Parliament, focusing on mutual understanding and cooperation to achieve shared regional objectives.
Speaker Ntakirutimana expressed appreciation for the warm reception and commended the Somali government and people for their resilience and accomplishments. He emphasized the significance of Somalia’s participation in the EAC Parliament and the advantages of a robust partnership.
President Mohamud reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to enhancing collaboration with EAC member states, emphasizing that such cooperation is crucial for regional economic development, peace, security, and stability.
The meeting was attended by several prominent Somali officials, including the Speaker of the Somali National Assembly, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur, First Deputy Speaker Saadiya Yasin Haji, Second Deputy Speaker Abdullahi Omar Abshirow, and members of the People’s Assembly of the Parliament.
