MOGADISHU, Somalia — The Council of Ministers of the Federal Republic of Somalia has recently confirmed the appointment of Mr. Abdirahman Syed Ahmed as the new Deputy Director of the Agency for Identification and Public Registration.
The announcement came following the council’s weekly meeting, which was presided over by Acting Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Salah Ahmed Jama.
The appointment of Mr. Ahmed was proposed by the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation, signaling a strategic move towards bolstering the administrative capabilities of the agency responsible for national identification and public records.
In addition to the personnel changes, the council also approved an economic cooperation agreement with the People’s Republic of China, aimed at fostering development and economic ties between the two nations. This agreement is part of Somalia’s broader strategy to enhance international partnerships for economic advancement.
The meeting also covered a range of other governance issues. Reports on security measures, the progress in the standardization of driving license issuance, and the implementation of a new sales tax were discussed. These topics underscore the government’s commitment to improving public services and economic stability.
