MOGADISHU – The commander of the Somali National Army, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmoud, visited the TURKSOM Military Training Academy in Mogadishu, where he inspected the overall conditions of the institution and the progress of training programmes for various army units.
During the visit, the army chief reviewed facilities at the academy and received briefings from instructors on the readiness and performance of trainees undergoing military courses.
He also presided over the closing ceremony of a sports competition organised to mark the holy month of Ramadan, which brought together different classes at the academy as part of efforts to boost morale and strengthen camaraderie among soldiers.
The final match was played between teams representing the first and third classes, with the first class team emerging victorious.
The visit concluded with an iftar meal shared with officer cadets and trainees, during which the commander commended instructors and recruits for their commitment and continued efforts to enhance the professionalism of the Somali armed forces.
