MOGADISHU, Oct 3, 2025 – Somalia’s Ministry of Health has concluded a two-day national health coordination meeting in Mogadishu, aimed at aligning plans and priorities for the country’s health sector in 2025.

The meeting, attended by federal and state health officials, UN agencies, and international and local health partners, focused on harmonizing efforts to strengthen the delivery of essential health services across Somalia.

“The goal is to ensure that all stakeholders are working together under a unified national plan to improve health outcomes for all Somalis,” said Dr. Ali Haji Adam, Somalia’s Minister of Health and Human Services.

Participants reviewed ongoing health programs and discussed strategies for expanding access to primary healthcare, addressing malnutrition, strengthening disease surveillance, and improving maternal and child health.

The ministry emphasized that coordinated planning is key to building a resilient and inclusive health system, especially in a country facing recurrent climate shocks, displacement, and insecurity.

The outcomes of the meeting will feed into Somalia’s national health strategy for 2025, with the aim of enhancing donor alignment and resource mobilization..
